MANAGEMENT OF GYNAECOLOGICAL CONDITIONS

As a gynaecologist and obstetrician, Dr Jagiellowicz can assist in the diagnosis, management and treatment of various gynaecological conditions affecting women from puberty to beyond menopause. These gynaecological conditions may include:

MENSTRUAL ABNORMALITIES

Common issues include periods that last beyond 7 days, severely painful menstrual cramps, abnormal menstrual bleeding and spotting between periods are all menstrual abnormalities that can be managed. These symptoms and many others may be an indication of abnormal uterine bleeding and other gynaecological conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), so it is essential that you see your gynaecologist should you experience such symptoms. With a clear understanding of your gynaecological history and your symptoms, your gynaecologist will be able to find the cause and treat whatever condition is causing unruly menstrual cycles and symptoms.

VAGINAL DISCHARGE

Vaginal discharge is completely natural. It is merely fluid made by glands inside the vagina and cervix and plays a role in keeping the vagina clean as well as preventing infection. Abnormal vaginal discharge is discharge that is thick, white, yellow-grey, green or foul-smelling as this may be a sign of infection and warrants a check-up with your gynaecologist. When an abnormal vaginal discharge is coupled with symptoms of burning, itching, swelling or inflammation of the vagina, and pain when urinating or during sex, it may indicate something more serious such as an STD or STI.

CHRONIC PELVIC PAIN

While pelvic pain during menstruation may be normal, some women may experience excruciating pelvic pain during menstruation or even chronic pelvic pain. Chronic pelvic pain can be intermittent or constant and may relate to your menstrual cycle, or occur during sex, urination, bowel movements, sitting or standing. No woman should have to endure chronic pelvic pain; therefore, visit your gynaecologist for diagnosis in order to treat and manage these symptoms and their underlying cause.

MENOPAUSE

Menopause is a natural biological process that marks the end of a women's menstrual cycle. Menopause usually occurs between the age of 40-50. The natural decline in hormones, oestrogen and progesterone, lead to a range of uncomfortable menopause symptoms such as hot flashes, mood swings, night sweats, vaginal dryness and reduced sex drive. While this process is natural, Dr Jagiellowicz can assist those with perimenopause and menopause, manage menopause symptoms and complications with prescribed medications and hormone replacement therapy.
